We often have our classes outside. This is because our facilities offer a large, fully secure garden so your little ones have the freedom of feeling the grass beneath their feet and a study has shown that more outdoor time is linked with improved motor development and lower obesity rates and myopia (nearsightedness) risk. Safely getting some sun also helps us take in vitamin D that our bodies need to stay healthy and strong. More engaged in learning. Playing outside promotes curiosity, creativity and critical thinking.
We have indoor facilities we like using this throughout winter. We also have a kitchen attached so we offer tea, coffee, juice, water and snacks as well as seating to sit down and let your little ones explore, and did you know? that indoor play allows your child to work on their strength, flexibility, and gross motor skills, helping them develop into strong and healthy toddlers. When you take your child to an indoor playground, they will be able to let their imagination run wild in a safe and secure space.
Our Trays
Our trays are unique to each class. We use a wide variety of:
ingredients
textures
smells
colours
Here is a few examples:
yogurt finger paint, Spaghetti lava ,Cocoa mud, Citrus/herbal tea water play, Cereals trees, Jelly/ice smash, Fun foam, oats/couscous sand, potato stamping, edible slime pond, vegetables garden. We have endless possibilities to make every tray unique, we like to use multiple textures/colours and tastes to make any possibility a reality!
We are the ones behind it all here at Manx Messy Play!
We wanted a messy play group here on the island that offers a different kind of play
where their imagination has no limits
where you have no stress
where the whole family can enjoy messy play without having to clean everything up
“My little girl was born during the pandemic, and raised during the lockdowns. I noticed that she did not have the opportunity to explore different textures, tastes and smells of the outdoors or bond with other children. She was always cleaning her hands and quite shy with new things and people, but I wanted to change this, after some research I discovered Messy play and all the amazing benefits it has to offer! so we started at home and we unlocked a passion for it, both me and my daughter lovee it but I know just like me that a lot of mums, dads and carers don’t want to do it on a rainy day and have it inside because you know some how slime would be in your carpets or paint handprints on the walls. I want all mums, dads and carers and more importantly our children to enjoy the freedom of true messy play”
“As a grandma of three beautiful children I never wanted to miss second of quality time with my grandchildren, when my daughter had to go back to work full time after maternity I quit my job and became a stay at home grandma I loved all the activities paintings, arts and crafts but unlike her mum I didn’t have the stuff at home for messy play and by the time my granddaughter was 9 months old all she wanted to do if she couldn't explore outside is explore every cupboard and drawer I had!
I went to playgroups, but I really wanted to be playing outside with her in a safe environment as she was only crawling and parks weren’t really suitable, somewhere I could go knowing i could return her to her Mum and dad in one piece, happy and very tired but i also wanted to make core memories with her, because time is so precious, I wanted a way to have all this and ensure she was meeting the developmental milestones and then I found it Messy play! I wanted the whole family and everyone else’s family to to get involved so we and you can have quality time together. That’s why we even do a class on a weekend and over summer holidays, all older kids are welcome too.”
